The plans for TYPO3 v14 have been finalized - and they bring some interesting changes with them. Oliver Bartsch, the new Feature Unit Roadmap Coordinator, has published the details of the release cycle, which show: The TYPO3 team is rethinking.

Late start, better quality

The most noticeable difference: TYPO3 14.0 will not be released until November 25, 2025, which is later than usual, but deliberately planned. The developers want to take more time for structural changes instead of postponing features under time pressure or releasing them half-finished.

The other dates at a glance:

  • 14.1: January 20, 2026 (feature integration)
  • 14.2: March 31, 2026 (feature freeze)
  • 14.3: April 21, 2026 (LTS release)

Flexibility instead of fixed commitments

An important change: in future, sprint releases will no longer be linked to specific features. This reduces the pressure on developers and creates room for organic growth of features. To be honest, I think this is a smart move - too often, fixed commitments have led to stress and postponed features.

New way of working

The change in working methods is particularly exciting: Instead of isolated development, interdisciplinary teams now work together right from the start. UX designers, developers, documentation experts and marketing people are virtually sitting at the same table. This means that documentation and communication are no longer tacked on at the end, but are considered right from the start.

What's coming in v14?

Among other things, we are already working on

  • Migration to Schema API and Record API
  • Dashboard Settings API
  • New look & feel
  • Content Blocks improvements

Hi, I am Wolfgang.

Since 2006, I've been diving deep into the fascinating world of TYPO3 - it's not only my profession, but also my passion. My path has taken me through countless projects, and I have created hundreds of professional video tutorials focusing on TYPO3 and its extensions. I love unraveling complex topics and turning them into easy-to-understand concepts, which is also reflected in my trainings and seminars.

As an active member of the TYPO3 Education Committee, I am committed to keeping the TYPO3 CMS Certified Integrator exam questions current and challenging. Since January 2024, I am proud to be an official TYPO3 Consultant Partner!

But my passion doesn't end at the screen. When I'm not diving into the depths of TYPO3, you'll often find me on my bike, exploring the picturesque trails around Lake Constance. These outdoor excursions are my perfect balance - they keep my mind fresh and always provide me with new ideas.
