TYPO3 Developer Days 2025: Field report & insights
Have the article read aloud.
From August 7 to 9, Karlsruhe was once again firmly in the hands of the TYPO3 community. Almost 400 nerds, countless talks and plenty of hoppy cold drinks - the Developer Days 2025 were a complete success
Wednesday: Workshop day for integrators
One day before the official launch, I held my traditional integrator workshop. Focus this time: TYPO3 13 and of course Content Blocks. The participants seemed satisfied - at least nobody broke down crying.
My thanks again go to Eric Harrer, who supported me again this year. His expertise makes the workshop better every time.
Why an integrator goes to the Developer Days
You may be asking yourself: "Wolfgang, why are you going to a developer event as an integrator?" The answer is simple: there are plenty of relevant topics for us integrators too. Backend workflows, new features, extension development - it all affects our daily work.
What's more, the official talks are only half the battle. The most valuable conversations often take place between sessions or at the bar in the evening.
The legendary Coding Night
Thursday evening was again the "Contribution Night" on the program. Many took the opportunity to work directly on TYPO3 - be it on the core code or the documentation.
I belonged to the other faction: cozy conversations with cold drinks containing hops. Sometimes networking is more important than coding.
Bowling with the big boys
On Friday evening, I had the honor of competing in the bowling tournament. My team: Eric Harrer, Garwin Hicking and Thomas Löffler. We heroically bowled our way through to the first round - and gave the opposing team the good feeling of having progressed.
As a passionate bowler (once every ten years), this was a complete success. More hoppy cold drinks followed.
Social night in the open air
On Saturday evening, the weather spoiled us with perfect conditions for the Social Night. A relaxed finale after three intensive days.
Three days, almost 400 nerds, one passion
After three days, it was all over again. But what three days! I learned a lot, passed on a lot and had a lot of fun.
The special thing about TYPO3 events is that you meet people who share your passion. You don't experience that every day.
Thanks to all the participants, sponsors, helping hands and the organizing team. You did a great job again.
Next stop: TYPO3camp Munich
The TYPO3camp continues from September 12 to 14 - this time in Puchheim near Munich. I'll also be giving an integrator workshop there the day before the camp.
Will I see you there?
P.S.: If you're also interested in such events but haven't yet plucked up the courage: The TYPO3 community is incredibly friendly and helpful. Just take the plunge.
Do you have a question or want to discuss the topic?
In the Community Hub for TYPO3 you can exchange ideas with other TYPO3 users. And if you don't want to miss any new articles: The TYPO3 Newsletter comes once a month, without spam.
Hi, I'm Wolfgang.
I have been working with TYPO3 since 2006. Not in theory, but in real projects with real deadlines. I've probably had the problems you're having three times already.
At some point, I started putting my knowledge into video courses. Not because I like being in front of the camera, but because I kept hearing the same questions over and over again. There are now hundreds of videos. Every single one was the result of a specific question from a specific project.
What makes me different from a YouTube tutorial: I not only know the solution, but also the context. Why something works. When it doesn't work. And which mistakes you can avoid because I've already made them.
My participants use me as a sparring partner. Not in the sense of "call me anytime", but like this: You come to the live session with a specific problem, post your question in the community or watch the appropriate video. And get an answer that works because it comes from practical experience.
As a member of the TYPO3 Education & Certification Committee, I make sure that the certification exams are kept up to date. What is tested there flows directly into my courses.
